TRXYE.

For the past year or so, I have been watching Troye Sivan's youtube videos.
He is hilarious and super talented, so when I found out he was releasing his third EP, I was ecstatic!
TRXYE was released on August 15th and I honestly think it is one of the best things I have ever heard. The EP contained 5 songs - Happy Little Pill, Touch , Gasoline , Fun & The Fault in our Stars (MMXIV). I think my favourite is Fun, but I love all of the songs.
To celebrate the release, I decided to draw the album art.
Here are the results:

I used acrylic paints to create the album art.
Here is a preview of TRXYE that Troye posted on Soundcloud, so have a listen!

I hope you enjoyed this post, as it was a little different from my usual posts!
Comment below your thoughts on TRXYE, it will be interesting to hear different views.
Thanks for reading ^.^

Dragon Sketches.

Unfinished dragon face pencil sketch
I've never been good at drawing anything creepy, freaky or mildly scary. I've always embraced my cutesy and detailed style, until well...I couldn't.
I'd always seek my teacher's help when I ever had to draw anything 'scary', but a couple of months ago, I was given a piece of A3 paper to draw a dragon on. IT WAS MY WORST NIGHTMARE. I had no idea where to start, so I researched some images of dragons and tried to draw them.
This was the outcome, I hope you enjoy!

Chalk Flowers.

The summer holidays have given me a lot of time to be bored.
I am now constantly stuck in the habit of saying "I could do something...but I'm too tired to move.".
This has resulted in me staying inside for at least half the entirety of my holidays on the internet, just continuously scrolling through social media searching for some sort of reason to go outside.
It's not even like I enjoy staying inside and being anti-social, because I do like going outside and having jobs to do/ people to meet.

So a couple of weekends ago, I decided to go outside and do something creative.
I went to my local park with a packet of coloured chalks in my hand and a friend by my side, hoping to draw some pretty pictures on the pavement.
Here are the results, I hope you enjoy:

I'd like to think we made the park (temporarily) more colourful for passers by, but at the end of the day it was a bit of fun and an excuse to go outside.
If you have any tips for me on staying busy during the holidays, please leave them in the comments below!

Too Fab for You

'Too Fab for You'
I've always been drawn to bright hair colours.
Whether mermaid blues, fruity corals or toxic greens, they've always appealed to me. I feel that painting my characters with weird hair colours shows their quirky personalities.

I painted this canvas for a close-family relative who needed a bit of cheering up, so I hope she likes it.
I mixed a pastel colour palette with a primary colour palette, but I think it's worked out well. It's bright, bold and I think the black outline makes it really stand out (So does the unicorn horn)!

I'm really overwhelmed by the fact that my blog has been viewed over 100 times, thank-you very much ♥

Colourful Prints.

I really love the look of a colourful lino print, they've just always seemed more arty to me than a plain and simple print.
I made the prints below in my art class, by carving my design into a piece of lino and painting 3 different backgrounds to place my design on top of.

Print One - Made using blue to white gradient ink & purple/blue watercolour paints

Print Two - Made using black ink & blue/green watercolour paints

Print Three - Made using white ink & purple watercolour paints

Leopard Print Coats & Gradient Skies

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a medium sized canvas and let my ideas explode onto it.
At the time, I was looking at Sashiko Yuen's artwork she creates under the name Wishcandy
Her piece 'Tender White' inspired me to paint a quirky character accompanied by a gradient sky background.

"Leopard Print Coats & Gradient Skies"
This canvas took me around 3 hours to create and I began by sketching out a simple outline in order to make sure I could fit all my ideas on an A4 sized canvas.

Secondly, I began painting. I mostly used dark colours to create a 'grungy' vibe for my canvas, but then I decided to use a bright blue for my characters hair.

Finally, I added the details to my canvas:
  • A leopard print coat
  • Weirdo badge
  • Two black and white toadstools

I hope you enjoyed this post, I hope to publish some more of my canvases soon.

An Introduction.

Hi.
My name is Fran and I created this blog to showcase my artwork.
I've been interested in art since a very young age and I've recently taken to painting quirky 'tumblr-esque' characters. I get my inspiration from many different places such as magazines/books (I read teen vogue and lots of books), music (I listen to all different genres) and the internet in general.
This blog is generally going to remain anonymous. I made this decision because I want people to focus on my artwork rather than who I am, but my personality will definitely come across in my artwork and blog posts.
I am planning to fill this blog with my artwork, inspirations and the occasional rant, so stay tuned for more.

Thanks for visiting! =^-^=
